Teams based out of the Marshall, MN area and play in 5 Twin Cities Metro or other Midwest Region

5th, 6th & 7th Grade GIRLS – 10:30am to Noon
8th & 9th Grade GIRLS – Noon to 1:30pm
10th & 11th Grade GIRLS – 1:30pm to 3:00pm
5th, 6th & 7th Grade BOYS – 5:00pm to 6:30pm
8th & 9th Grade BOYS – 6:30pm to 8:00pm
10th & 11th Grade BOYS– 8:00pm to 9:30pm
Note: Although there are 2 grades trying out at the same time, the plan is to have one or more team for each grade. For example,
8th graders won't be competing against 9th graders to make one team.

| Tournaments |
---Teams will play in 5 Tournaments between April 14th and June 18th.
---We will try our best to schedule tournaments so that each athlete will play in at least 4
tournaments. Tournament weekends will be selected after the team is formed based on
athlete availability.
---If you have a busy spring ahead of you and are worried about not making enough weekends, I
encourage you to attend tryouts and I may be able to give you a discounted rate if you can only
make 2 or 3 but still want to participate. (please contact Andrew on or before tryout day with your
concerns)
---There are different division levels for each grade & we will do our best to put each team in
challenging and competitive tournaments. The goal is to push all players to bring their game
to a new level!

| Frequently Asked Questions |
| What about lodging/hotels? Players & families will be on their own to decide where to stay. You may stay with friends/relatives in the area. Discounted "team hotel" rates will be available again this year. |
| What about playing style? I would like to see a helping man-to-man defense and a motion offense from each team. Although there may be situations where modifications are needed. |
| Will I get my money back if I don't make a team or there aren't enough players to form a team for my age? Yes, of course. There is no fee to tryout. And we will try our best to get everyone on a team, possibly by moving athletes up if there isn't enough interest at a particular grade. |

| 2012 Southwest Slam - Spring Team Tryouts |
- Each team will consist of 9 or 10 players.
- Teams will play in 5 Spring/Summer Tournaments. Most will be in the Twin Cities Metro Area...
possibly 1 or 2 in South Dakota or Iowa.
- Practices will be in Marshall or surrounding area. There will be 8 practices throughout the season,
weekly or semi-weekly, so athletes can still play spring sports. Wednesday or Sunday nights have
been the preferred practice nights in the past, but will try to accommodate each player's availability in
determining a team's schedule. Please fill out the following calendar with dates that will work to
practice and play and bring it to tryouts: Calendar
- Cost $410.00 per player…includes Nike Jersey, Nike Shorts, and warm-up shirt. (which are yours to
keep)
*Player Fee for Top 17U girls team may be a bit more based on larger exposure tournaments, which
could go into July. More details on this at tryout night.
- Although there is no fee to tryout, we will need a commitment by that night that you are willing to play
on a team if selected.
- Each player will have the option to have a link on the Team Roster Page to a personal
- Fundraising opportunities(optional) are available through ESPN the Magazine. Click here for details.
- Referral Discount program is back!...get a $10.00 credit/refund for each new athlete that lists you as a
referral on the online registration form. HELP SPREAD THE WORD on this opportunity to play spring
